Phil has an excellent way of being a nice guy when he has a losing streak. In the 2003 World Series of Poker, poker player Freddy Deeb luckily made a set of kings on the turn, beating Ivey’s set of sevens. Deeb was impatient and demanded Ivey’s chips, but Ivey calmly told him to “relax”. After surrendering his chips Phil said “it must be the shirt”, referring to Freddy’s red-checkered shirt. Freddy retorted “if you’re around tomorrow I might let you wear it”. And Phil jokingly replied, “you’d have to pay me something to do that”. Phil is a very aggressive player and remarkable tournament player. He is already a legend in his generation and is arguably the world’s best poker player.
